Happy Hound Rescue's mission is to save the lives of dogs at risk of euthanasia in local animal control facilities and dog pounds in the Midwest. Through our network of volunteers, we identify adoptable dogs, check out their temperaments and behavior, and arrange for them to be altered, updated on vaccinations, wormed, and treated for fleas and ticks. We also microchip our dogs so they will never be lost again. We believe that there is a dog for every home and a home for every dog-and it is our job to match them up!
We rescue dogs of any breed except bully breeds as we don't have the expertise to adequately evaluate these dogs for placement. Most of our dogs are mixed breeds, and occasionally we have purebred dogs surrendered to us when owners become unable to care for them.
We are a 5013C, Minnesota non-profit organization. We have about 75 volunteers who help with choosing dogs, taking dogs to vets, transporting dogs, fostering dogs, fund-raising and all the myriad tasks needed to help our dogs find forever homes. Please email us at happyhoundrescue.org if you would like to volunteer. If you are interested in being a foster family, please click on this link for our application form.
